From WordPress 2.8.5 to WordPress 2.8.6
New WordPress upgrading version 2.8.6 is arrived! And we should upgrade directly our WordPress blog if there is new version of WordPress. It is for security reason. WordPress upgrading is a basic step of WordPress securing anyway. WordPress version 2.8.6 is another security upgrade – exactly an update to fix 2 security issues that exploitable for registered and logged user. Here the detail:
- an XSS vulnerability in Press which discovered by Benjamin Flesch
- an issue with sanitizing uploaded file names that can be exploited in certain Apache configurations which discovered by Dawid Golunski
As you may already aware this security issues applicable if you have another author in the blog which mean that you save if you the only one author for your blog. I, my self, choose to upgrade my blog version to 2.8.6 just for caution. I do automatic upgrade from my dashboard. Of course, I do all necessary WordPress backup before automatically upgrade it. You can read complete step by step to upgrade WordPress safely first before upgrade WordPress to new versions. It is good to always caution in each WordPress upgrade.

Hi bro I think you have knowledge of editing blogger template. Recently I have upload new blogger template, I have already install new feature like social bookmarking button, disqus comment form etc, but I have encountered one major problem, that is I can not put two 125*125 banner button side by side the sidebar. I think I have to make major edit of my new blogger template. can you please help me. If you want I will send you the template to you.
First, the sidebar must larger than 250. Second, you must un-check the “Automatically add paragraphs”. This is if you use text widget. If use another way, email me trough “contact me” form.

WP 2.8.6 is really for upgrade already? I haven’t even upgraded to 2.8.5. I have other blog that has one author so I think I should upgrade it first. I thought it would take some time before 2.8.6 will be released.

yeah, it is always good to have newest version of wordpress.
Are these updates seem to be rolling out more often, or is it just me? I use my dashboard to upgrade too, but I am being to cavalier by not backing up before I do it. It’s going to bite me in the rear soon I’m afraid if I don’t get a better back up habit.
You can choose to not backup first for minor upgrading like this but it surely can harm you if there is major upgrading. And yeah, it seems the upgrading more often recently.
