As you should already aware that web hosting choice is very important part of whole blog starting. Yeah, as i already mention in my very first article that first thing in build a blog is domain name choosing and purchasing. The second thing is web hosting choosing. You should choose web hosting service to host your blog carefully. It is because bad web hosting service surely will lead your blog to doom. In contrary, great web hosting service surely will lead your blog to great future.
There are many parameters that we can use in our web hosting service choosing such as up time, available support, capacity, bandwidth, hosting type, and many others. I will write about web hosting type only in this article – exactly only write about two most known web hosting type which are shared and dedicated server. In my opinion, knowing hosting type it self already enough to knowing about capacity and bandwidth for our web hosting service. It is because the type usually include bandwidth and capacity.
I write what specifications for shared and dedicated server web hosting so readers can choose it base on their needs.
Shared Server Hosting
- Usually IP address is share between many users
- For low until medium traffic
- Resources share trough Multiple user
- Server is controled by provider which include whole Operation and Maintanance
- Can choose the Operating System (OS)
- Cheap
Dedicated Server Hosting
- IP address use only for one user
- For high and very high traffic
- Resources dedicated only for one user
- Users is allowed to have 100% control of servers which include Operation and Maintanance
- Can choose the Operating System (OS)
- Expensive

Web hosting choosing is really important part in whole blog creation. There are many parameters that can use to do our choosing. One of the parameters is web hosting type. There are two web hosting type in general which are Shared Server Hosting and Dedicated Server Hosting. I write the specification of each web hosting type so it can help in your web hosting choosing. Of course, What ever is your choice, you should make sure that you choose the best of each web hosting service. Yeah – You should choose either best shared server hosting or best dedicated hosting available.

why not just settle for a reseller or a vpn? I mean dedicated hosting is too expensive especially if youre not yet making big money. Reseller is the best bang for a buck I think
I think you mean vps. In my opinion, reseller and VPS is still shared server hosting. Yeah — one hosting server (hardware) still use by multiple users in reseller and VPS.
Dedicated server sounds great, but like others are saying, it’s good for a site with high traffic. Maybe someday

Only use dedicated server if your blog is great like johnchow’s blog, darren’s blog or FACEBOOK. The only thing we should consider went we have huge traffic is bandwidth. So I guess, using shared hosting from hostgator(unlimited bandwidth) is good enough. Plus, dedicated cost you a lot per month.
Yup, dedicated hosting only for site that have crazy traffic or have many application that consume server processor.
In some cases, dedicated hosting can cost more than 10x the amount of shared.
For 99% of bloggers, shared is the way to go and if they somehow get into the echelon of needing more, worry about the switch later. It’ll be a good problem to have.

Currently I am using shared hosting. Hope I get enough traffic to move to dedicated hosting.
