I use both Analytics AND statcounter. With statcounter I am able to get up to the second details so I know exactly who is doing what when.
Yeah, i think almost all blogger use real time statistic beside google analytics.
@Carl
I have a hard enough time obsessing over google analytics, I can’t imagine how bad it would be if I had up to the second details.
Google Analytics is a great tool. I also have the Stat Press plug-in installed. It has a lot of useful functions
Yeah, I already heard about how good stat press can be, but not yet try it.
another good option is to paste the code directly in footer file.
Hem… I may try it if i change the theme. Thanks for the idea.
thanks for suggestion. I am using stat counter.com site for stat of my blog but now i try google analytics
yes, you should try google analytic
I have Google Analytics installed and it seems to work good, I will check into adding the WordPress plugin as well so I too can do a comparison. Thanks for the advise!
You’re welcome my friend.
Till I read your post I didn’t pay much attention to Google Analytics. I thought that the service was useless.
But when I saw its results, its are far better than Sitemeter and some other Wordpress plugins that we use. Google rocks……
Yeah, you should have it because Google analytics can give great description for your blog.
Google Analytics is actually pretty amazing. I’m not sure bloggers really know how to use it well. There’s so much there, you can really find almost anything you need.
It’s not real time but I’m ok with data being a day behind.
Yeah, i agree with you. I am also still learning how to use all feature in google analytics.
Google Analytics is awesome. I love digging deep in to my blog stats to figure out where my main traffic sources are and what keywords people use to find me in the search engines. This is essential for any blogger because it helps you analyze what’s working and what’s not.
Matt
Yeah, sure that we can improve our blog base on google analytics data.
Must have tools for all Webmaster I guess.
Yes, a must have tool.
Hi Dana,
I’m using Stat Press but I wanted to install google analytics too. Is there any problem in having installed both?
Thanks a lot for this detailed list of step to install it. Very useful.
Regards
There is no problem to use both of it because google analytics is not a plugin like Stat Press.
I personally use WP-stats and Google analytics both. I’m impressed at how quickly and accurate WP-stats is when compared with Google Analytics. For beginners, Wp-stats is probably enough, but analytics gives a lot of awesome information about the people browsing.
Using analytics it is much easier to track traffic and user patterns. Good stuff and as always, easy to understand directions.
Yeah, I use analytics for more deep analyzing and WP-stats for real time statistic.
I’ve been using Google Analytics when I first started my blog, and I also installed Statpress few days ago. I realized that there is a lot of discrepancy between Google Analytics and statpress, in term of the referrer site and traffic, says Google Analytics shows 200 UV today but statpress shows 600 UV today.
But I believe that Google Analytics will take president instead of statpress, when you show your traffic, you show Google Analytics because that’s the tool that people trust.
Regards,
Lee
Yeah, I already aware that many blogger use Google Analytics stats when they post about their blog statistic result.
Google Analytics is still the best tool to track web usage for me.
Yeah, Google analytics give more complete result for me.
I use google analytics on my blog and I have to say It’s A Must.
Every blogger should be using it and put the information and statistics to good use.
sure, it is a must have tools for blogger.
I thought the post made some good points on Use Google Analytics, On a related topic if i need to get data I use python for simple html extracting data, but for larger projects like files, the web, or documents i tried extracting data which worked great, they build quick custom web scrapers, extracting data, and data parsing programs
Thanks for the info, i will check it.
