Dana I have seen you active on my blogs.. I mean not only 1-2 comments but a whole bunch of comments.. One thing which i always take care of when posting comment to a post, which is going to be good for discussion … (Subscribe to post) else I never bother myself for subscription….

Some blog use the disquss comment platform. And sometimes, they set the default to subscribe to comments. As for me, I am using the same plug in as you are using here.

I don’t subscribe because as you said it fills my inbox with all the replies from every person commenting, multiply that by the 50-100 blogs I read and comment on daily there simply would be no time to keep track of the incoming responses. I prefer it when the blogger has it set that I receive a email only if he responds to my comment.

One other thing that you can do to avoid the downside of subscribe to comment is use special email just for blogging.

Yeah, you should use subscribe to comment facility. It makes comment tracking become easy.

I generally check the subscribe to comment box when leaving comments. I agree that you can miss out on opportunities to be part of a discussion in the comments which many times is more interesting than the original blog post.

There is a downside to subscribing to comments in that you can quickly fill up your email box with follow up comments if you are active in your commenting. My comment goal is 50 per week so you can see how quickly my email can get clogged with follow up comments.

Most posts quit producing comments after a few days so it kind of takes care of the problem. After a couple of weeks, I unsubscribe to the comments to those that generate a lot of comments for which I am not really interested.

same as you, i used to check my comment on other blog by directly checking the post, and see if my comment has been moderated or not or maybe got replies. But after reading this, i consider to subscribe to some comment page, so i can be more active to the conversation.

In this article i more ask other bloggers to have comment tracking in their blog because I tend to track my comment in their blog. About plugin, i do not mind what ever the plugin as long as it can make easy for comment tracking.

Btw, in my opinion, Using ReplyMe plugin sound like force the readers to track the comment even they do not want to.

You can actually use ReplyMe rather than asking people use that plugin. It will automatically send a message to that commentators whenever his/her comments has reply. To get them back sooner, answer them right away. I receive sometimes a hundred of comment on other blog with this plugin

I do subscribe to comment because I want to look what others saying too..It increase debating among readers..but it does make our inbox full. How do I avoid this problem? Is easy. I just unsubscribe to any post when I feel that I have no more to say.

I don’t always subscribe followup comments because my inboxes are already so full. But I do check back to previous posts regularly.
