Thumbnail Removal From ClearType CMS (Magazine) Style

This is the simple useful blogging tips for the ClearType WordPress Theme. As I already mentioned back then. The ClearType WordPress ThemeClearType WordPress theme is the clean and clear WordPress Theme which offers two layout choice which are CMS (Magazine) style and traditional blogging style. In my opinion, the best of this WordPress Theme is the CMS (Magazine) style. It surely offers the fresh look to the WordPress blog. In CMS (magazine) style, each of our blog post that showed in home page will be completed with thumbnail.

Indeed, the thumbnail feature is a great feature but will add the blog load time for sure. Since the load time is in Google search engine consideration now, we should really careful about it. If possible (and not bad for blog lay out quality), we should always try to keep the picture is minimum – especially at blog home page. Therefore, it is needed to remove the thumbnail feature from the homepage. However, to keep the blog layout quality, I decide to leave the thumbnail in post slide part. It mean that we only remove the thumbnail from blog post excerpt but still be applied in blog post slide area. It is quite easy to do this task – it is the simple blogging tips indeed.

Here how I remove the thumbnail from CMS (Magazine) style of ClearType WordPress Theme:

  • Log in to WordPress Dashboard
  • Go to “Appearance” area and click it
  • Click “Editor”
  • Choose “cms-style.php” at “Templates” area
  • Locate the below code:

<div>
php tj_thumbnail(‘boxthumbw’, ‘boxthumbh’); ?>
</div>
<!–end: thumb–>

  • Delete the code
  • Done

The thumbnail removal task is finished. Now, our ClearType blog will have the reasonable load time since the thumbnail is not showed in each blog post excerpt anymore.

Final Words

The blog load time seems become more important now since Google consider it as one of factor in its search engine. Therefore it is needed to tweak the CMS (Magazine) style of ClearType WordPress theme so the thumbnail is not showed in each blog post excerpt. In this blog post, I share how to do it in very simple way. I hope it can help to tweak your ClearType blog be better.
