Google webmasters is one of powerful tools for webmasters. Webmaster can find many resources to help analyze how the site in Google point of view. It is important because Google is the biggest search engine until now. I think Bing (as biggest competitors for Google) can not cope with Google yet. So, the webmasters can focus to synchronize their site with Google. The Site traffic surely increases if Google like it. And it it is really important if you know that the site is worthy only if there are visitors. And Google webmaster also provides service to give our thought according some site (importantly about our site).
Let’s register our Wordpress.org blog to Google webmaster then.
- Go to Google webmasters page and click “Sign in to Webmasters Tools” button.
- The login form appears and click “Sign in” button after fills the username and password with your Google account
- We are in Google webmaster now, and then click “Add a Site” button.
- The add site form appears, and then click “Continue” button after fill the form with domain name of Wordpress.org blog
- The verification page appears, and then uses “meta tag” verification method to verify the site
- Leave it open
- Log in to Wordpress.org admin page of our Wordpress.org blog
- Go to “Appearance” tab and click “Editor” button
- The Editor Themes page appears
- Click “Header (header.php)” link
- The Header.php code appears
- leave it open
- Go back to Google webmaster again and copy meta tag code
- Paste the verify meta code to Header.php code wordpres.org blog.
- Paste the verify meta code after “<meta http-equiv=”Content-Type” content=”<?php bloginfo(‘html_type’); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo(‘charset’); ?>” />” “
- click “Update File” button.
- Go back to Google webmaster tab and then click “Verify” button.
The Wordpress.org blog already verify successfully. It can look at blog verification text in blog list of your google webmasters. The verification text for the successfully verified blog is verified. If the text is verified, then Webmasters can use the Google webmaster to analyze how Google point of view for that blog. Webmaster can optimize the blog base on that and also can give complaint to Google according some site.

I am really enjoying your site. I wish you had started it about 1 month sooner, so I could have had these directions when I started my blog! I went the hard route and uploaded file using ftp. (I learned web editing back in the day when ftp was the way to go and there was no php header to edit) It’s amazing how things have changed and how much easier things are now.

Are you sure that word press will allow this type of alteration through php. I think, those blogs which are hosted at word press server can not alter it’s php txt.

This is for wordpress. org, not wordpress.com. As you may know, wordpress.org means self host blog that use wordpress as blog engine.

Googles wemaster tools has a lot of good features. I only just stated using it a few weeks ago but you can find out a lot of information about how the search engine spiders see your site.
