Learn from Google Page Rank Update
There are many opinions about Google Page Rank these days. Some says that there is no point of Google Page Rank anymore. Some even says that Google Page Rank is already dead. They say we should only focus for Search Engine Result Page (SERP) instead to try Google Page Rank increasing. And others say that Google Page Rank is still matters because can be decision factor for SERP. They even say that Google Page Rank describe how well your site/blog in eyes of Google, and also in internet. I can tell you that all of opinion about Google Page rank is just an assumption. Assumption base on experience of course. I say that because there are no one knows what and how Google Page Rank exactly except Google and God.
Yeah, only Google and God know how and what Google Page Rank affects site/blog exactly. And about my self, I am not an exception of just one of many assumptions making. I have my own assumption base on my own experience about Google Page Rank. In my assumption, Google Page Rank is still important part of blog/site. Google Page Rank tell me how the result of my blogging activities. I conclude that my blogging way already on track if my blog page rank increases each Google Page Rank update. And in contrary, I conclude that my blogging already out of track if my blog page rank decrease in Google Page Rank update. Google Page Rank is grade like for Search Engine Optimizing (SEO) exam. And this result becomes important because examination is do by the biggest search engine in internet, Google.
Result in Recently Google Page Rank Update
And it seems that Google recently (in October 2009 exactly) announce the result of SEO exam for all site in internet or you may know the exam result as Google Page Rank update. Yeah, Google do Page Rank update recently. I am quite happy about the result for this Online Knowledge blog. Google Page Rank value of this blog improves from 0 to 2. Yeah, this blog is having Google Page Rank 2 now. As I already mention before, this Google Page Rank increasing tell me that my blogging way already in right track for this blog. It is surely happy news for me because it means that my experiment in this blog is success.
And I am also happy that my other blog have a constant Google Page Rank 3 although already having so many outbound links in there. Yeah, my other blog have a ton of outbound link as result of my review working. I became really afraid that Google will punish it because having too much outbound link. I am afraid because i heard that many SEO gurus tell that too many outbound links from review working will result a bad reputation in Google eyes which can bring Google punishment. And I agreed with the opinion. Therefore, it is a big relieves for me that Google Page Rank is still 3 after Google Page Rank recent update. It seems that Google have its own way of think which not as same as what I and SEO gurus think.
What am I Learning from Recently Google Page Rank Update?
And I surely learn things from this October 2009 Google Page Rank update. I learn that my experiment for this Online Knowledge blog have a good result. Here I share my experiment according SEO.
- Do not use exchange link massively
- Do not submit to directory massively
- Depend more on content quality
- DoFollow Blog Comment and DoFollow Forum Comment as backlink build tool
- Blog Comment as promotional tools.
It seems that this experiment can give good result in Google Page Rank update. Those five ways above give Google Page Rank 2 in two month for this blog. Yeah, this result is not as spectacular as Keller do that she have Google Page Rank 3 within 3 weeks but I do not mind because current result is enough for me. Google Page Rank 2 in two month is enough to make me become one of happy men in blogoshpere. Yeah, I am happy enough although the result do not match with my old blog that get Google Page Rank 3 in two month, but yeah, my old blog use massive exchange link and directory submission strategy to gain that result.
I also learn from current Google Page Rank update that we can freely have much outbound link without penalty from Google as long as our blog content still having relevancy with our niche. Yeah, I surely learn it base on my experience in my other blog. It is other blog in where I post my review working. Of course, there are so many outbound links (some time the link is not relevant with the niche) in that other blog as result of review working post. But yeah, the theme of content is always relevant with the blog niche. Google seems really believe in content quality instead count the quantity of outbound link. Therefore, I can tell that we can link as many as we need without afraid of Google punishment as long as our content is good in term of quality and niche relevancy. It is true that some bloggers say that just link if you need to base on my own experience.
Conclusion
What we think we know about Google Page Rank is surely only an assumption. It is because only Google and God who knows what and how Google Page Rank exactly. And because it is base on assumption, there are so many opinions about it. I my self have my own opinion (assumption) base on my own experience. I believe Google Page Rank still important as SEO assessment tool. I also believe we can learn things form each Google Page Rank update. We can do our learning by do SEO experiment and use Google Page Rank as measurement tool for experiment result.

actually, it’s totally non sense if the PR grow but the serp remain the same or even go down. I think we have to both improve Page Rank and SERP

It’s really hard to find out how Google assign PR to a site. I have a blog that hasn’t been updated since August, yet, the PR raised from 1 to 2. I don’t quite understand. It must be some keywords tactics or something.

Nice Post. Gaining more internal links is one of the key success in gaining good Pagerank. Blog commenting is really one of the nice method of building links which you have recommended as it not only builds backlinks but also increases traffic and brings new readers. One can improve their PR if they comment on .edu blogs which can be found easily anywhere.

No, i have few do follow blog list but i think I do not need it anymore because there are so many do follow blog i find in this blog friend network.
And for do follow forums, i use digital point forum which the only english forum that i use, and the others are Indonesia language forum.
Dana, congrats on the page rank. It is very exciting to see your rank improving. I don’t think the amount of time (3 weeks vs. 3 months) is as big of a deal as the time between updates. Page rank only seems to update 4-5 times per year, so you might get lucky and get increased page rank quickly after you start your blog, or it might take a few months before Google updates.
I am also curious if Google did a full update or not. My page is still only 0/10, but I know that I have tons of dofollow backlinks to my site. I’m hoping another update is done soon that includes my page.

Yeah, google seems udate the PR not regularly but the just update when they like it. And thanks for the congratulation.
Nice lessons learned. We all make mistakes along the way but the important thing is that we are able to take something away from them. Looks like you’re doing a great job and a PR2 proves it!

I am also stuck with PR2 as I do not have many backlinks. But the best part is my alexa rankimg is decreasing considerably and traffic is improving. All I care about is the traffic as I do not want to have a blog with PR4 with little or less traffic.Keep up the good work

Yeah, SERP is the most important but PR can help your SERP.
I wouldn’t worry too much about outbound links. If all your outbound links are pointing at really good websites, you’re not going to be punished very much, if it all. You can see this one older pages that rank very high in both page rank and serps.

Those who doesn’t get pr update for their website says that they are not concerned about the same but if they get, they feel happiness. Actually everyone is concerned about pr. Likewise everyone is also concerned about sitelinks. Whether pr or sitelinks add to productivity or not – doesn’t matter but these do add to authority of your website or blog

Congrats on the PageRank bump. My initial PR was 0, but my blog had only been up a few weeks when the update rolled out. I am hoping for good results next PR update. I am seeing my SERP rise so hopefully that is a good sign of things to come.
