How To Create Blog Logo Easily by Using GIMP #5 (Finish)

This is the fifth or final article of blog logo creation by using GIMP blog post series. If you know nothing about this blog post series, please read the other articles before go further:

As you should already aware, We already have a good shape as result of some GIMP picture manipulation work. The blog logo seems already great in last article (fourth article) but it is need some finishing touch to make it a acceptable blog logo – especially regarding to color. And here We are to give the finishing touch for great own creation blog logo.

OK, Let’s finish our Blog Logo Creation

I duplicate “Shaded” and “HightLight” layer end blend it by use “Overlay” feature and set “Opacity” around 50. It is to strengthen the 3D affect.

Create new transparent layer and name it as “BottomColor” layer.

Select “Paths Tool” from “Tool Box”.

Cover the bottom part of logo with it. Just focus to make path for bottom logo and do not care beside it. And then, click “selection from path” in below of toolbox.

And here the result:

Right click inside the path. Choose “Select” – Choose “Feather” – use 10 as value. And then I choose brick-red color from tool box and drag it in selection. It will fill the color in selection area.

Change mode of “BottomColor” mode become “burn”.

Do “Alpha to selection” in “Basic Text” layer. Click “BottomColor” layer so it become active. Choose to inver the selection (ctrl + I) and then cut it (ctrl + x). Here the result:

Move “Frame” layer to right and down around 5 px ( use the feeling for better result) to strengthen the 3 D affect. Here the final result:

Final Words

OK, Blog Logo creation is already done — Yeah, The Blog Logo Creation by using GIMP blog post series is finally finish. It is a very basic blog logo indeed. I think It still can improve become better blog logo but it is enough for now. I leave the improving for you. And As your information, I add sub title “Much Blogging, Little Net and IT” in it ( As You can see in this blogging tips blog). I do not put about that in this logo creation tutorial because it is not significant. It is only created by using arial black without any affect on it.
