This is the third article of blog log creation by using GIMP post series. Therefore if you new in this post series, please read the previous article to have better understanding before go further in this third article.
In second article of blog logo creation by using GIMP post series, We already prepared the basic resource for our blog log creation. As the basic resource already ready – now – we can move to next step. We do some manipulation base on basic resources so become closer to our own great creation of blog logo.
OK, Let’s be Closer to Having Great Blog Logo by Using GIMP!
- I duplicate the basic text layer again and move it to top of layer stack. Move it by use arrow in “layers, channels, and paths” dialog box.
- I blur Basic Text#1 by use Gaussian blur with 8 pixel as size. Go to filter tab – choose blur – choose Gaussian Blur – fill 8 as value. And here the result:
- I duplicate Basic Text#1 once which I will use to create some edge affect for text. Layer stack become:
- Move Basic Text#1 layer around 5 px (use my feeling to judge it) to right and down. I use moving tool in Tool Box.
- Use “Alpha to selection” in Basic Text#1 layer. Right click on Basic Text#1 layer – choose “Alpha to Selection”. And then, select the HighLight layer. Remove basic text#1 from HighLight layer by do Cut (ctrl + x). Please note that we do cut in HighLight layer so make sure HightLight layer is active.
- Move “Basic Text 2” layer 5 pixel to left and up by use “Move Tool” in “Tool Box”. Use “Alpha to selection” in “Basic Text 2” layer. And then, select the “Shaded” layer. Remove “Basic Text#2” layer from “Shaded” layer by cut it (ctrl + x). Make sure “Shaded” layer is active when do cut.
- Delete “Basic Text#1” and “Basic Text#2” layers. And here the result:
Final Words
OK, now we already done some manipulation in our blog logo creation by using GIMP journey. The Logo looks different from basic text as second article result but yeah — it is still ugly even tough it already have some shape on it. It is still ugly because we are still not finish yet. This logo still need some finishing touch before it become a great logo for our blog. Therefore, We will do something about it in next article — the fourth article of this Blog Logo creation by using GIMP post series.
