Let’s Having Great Blog Logo by Using GIMP!
- Open GIMP application that installed in PC/Laptop before.
- Create New image. I create new image with 380×75 pixel size and white as background color. You surely can create your own size base on your needs.
- Create a Text For The Logo by using Text Tool in Toolbox. We can customize the text trough Text Tool customizing feature. Please look in picture below how I customize mine.
- I use Neuropolitical font for my logo. I use 30 px as font size and blue as basic color for the text. You surely can use any font type, color, and size base on your needs.
- I rename the text layer as basic text.
- I duplicate the basic text layer twice which will use for high-light and low-light affect. Fill the highlight become white. I select the highlight layer, check lock in above (keep trans), and drag the white color in toolbox into picture (please note that highlight layer is active).
- Here the result after do above step:
Final Words
Now, we already done the basic step of Blog Logo creation by using GIMP here. We already have basic shape resource which will be uses to finishing our logo creation. In the next article, we will see what we can do to this basic shape of blog logo — how we can make it better and become acceptable as blog logo. A blog logo that tell others about our blog — the logo that give more exposure, stand out, and also the reputation to our blog for sure.

I just installed my laptop with Ubuntu Linux OS(goodbye windows) and it doesn’t support photoshop which is I familiar with. But Ubuntu Linux OS come with built in GIMP so I have tried it and it quite similar to photoshop process. However, I prefer photoshop more
This post might be useful for those who can’t afford for paid software like photoshop.
Photoshop is too expensive for me.
