As You may already aware that header image (logo) become important part in blogging these days. A great match unique logo surely will make our blog stand out from the crowd which will boost our blogging reputation in long term. It is easy to have great logo if you have money – You can order a great logo to professional logo design. There are many of professional logo design in the internet – just search trough Google search engine and you will find them fast. OK, It is surely easy for blogger that have money but not all bloggers have budget for logo buying. Therefore, it is needed other non money solution for them.
So — what can bloggers do if do not have budget for logo buying?
If there is no budget for logo buying, blogger can always try to create their own logo (like I do for this blogging tips blog). What you need is only to spare enough time – it take one day for me – no need money at all to create your own logo. Please note that I need one day because I learn from very basic. I really do not have GIMP knowledge at all when start to make logo for this blog. I create the logo base on Google Search Engine result. Yeah — I create the logo purely depend on Google search engine result. I compile the knowledge from many GIMP tutorial that resulted from Google search engine. That’s what will I share trough this post series.
What will I share exactly?
I will share how I create this blog header image (Logo) so the readers can use it to create their own logo creatively. I share the complete steps of how to create a blog logo by using GIMP which I do by knowledge compiling of Google search result. Since the complete step is very long and full of picture, I decide to divide it into post series. In other words, I present A Blog Logo Creation by Using GIMP Post Series. In this first article — as introduction article — I share the background story of this blog post series for better understanding.
What should You prepare before start?
As preparation for next article, you should have GIMP application installed on our PC/Laptop because all logo creation that I do in this tutorial post series use GIMP. If you do not have GIMP installed in your PC/Laptop yet, just download it trough GIMP download page for free.

Great! I always loved Gimp.. but never knew it can be used to create logos! I always used Photoshop for that.. but to tell the truth… Photoshop is a bit too much
GIMP is powerful man.
I use to use GIMP. Sometimes I still use it. But I moved to Adobe Photoshop CS3 and no CS4. If I wasn’t using Photoshop I would be using GIMP.

Why do not you use Photoshop instead of GIMP? I am using Ubuntu but in case making my logo, I choose Photoshop in Windows environment!
It is because GIMP is free.
correct. many people completely ignore gimp and would rather use standard tools like photoshop but gimp is powerful too. I use it ocassionally and its an easier tool to use than photoshop
