I recently sign up to my web hosting affiliate program. Therefore, I search how the best way to put the affiliate link in wordpress.org blog. I get many blog posts about how the best way to put affiliate link in wordpress.org blog. There are according blog lay out, blog post, blog theme, link, and many others. How to conduct the affiliate program link directly catch my attention, because I already know that the affiliate provider count our earn base on the link identity that come from our site/blog.
I read all of the blog posts that write about how to conduct the affiliate link. After read so many blog posts according how to conduct the affiliate link,I conclude that to hide affiliate link is mandatory if bloger want to have much earn from affiliate program. Hide the affiliate link will prevent others to steal our affiliate earning. It also encourage the blog readers to click our affiliate link because there is no affiliate ugly code, and also increase click because there are no direct links that can copy paste to browser. This hide affiliate link really optimizes the affiliate program. Hide the affiliate link also good to avoid penalizing from search engine such as Google.
I found that there are many way to hide affiliate link. We can use like writing .htaccess redirect, html redirect, PHP redirect, JavaScript redirect, or just install the hide affiliate WordPress plugin. I, my self, choose PHP redirect as my hide affiliate link technique. I choose PHP redirect because it more suitable to me. You can always choose the hide affiliate link system that most suit you.
Here my way to hide the affiliate link by using PHP redirect:
- Create “aff” folder as my domain subfolder
- Create affiliatename.php file by use notepad
- Fill the affiliatename.php with code below:
<?php
header (’location: affiliatelink’);
?>
- Save and upload affiliatname.php to “aff” subfolder
- Test the hide affiliate link by paste this “” to my web browser. It should bring me to affiliate provider website.
I think that this simple PHP redirect already enough to hide my affiliate link completely. I hope that it is also give some increase earns from affiliate program that I join. For this article, I put one of my affiliate programs in rumahweb picture above. Just click it if you want to test.
Update : do not forget to create a blank index.php/.html in aff folder for security reasons.
That’s all update this time, wait for next update!

Yeah, there are many plugin to hide affiliate link indeed.
I’ve been reading a lot about hiding your affiliate links on various different blogs. Right now I am just wanting to make sure I don’t get dinged by google. Is it really necessary to do this if I am adding the nofollow tag?
The main reason to hide affiliate link is for security purpose. It avoid others to manipulate your affiliate code. And in my case, i use it to organize my affiliate link too.
So, if it is only to avoid google penalty, no follow tag already enough.
@john

@dana
Hi dana,Here is the example code :
