I my self have four domain name currently that register in Go Daddy without any problem until now. The difference may be in reputation and also how easy you can sell the domain back.
And yup, there are many cheap domain registrar out there for sure.
I register all of my domains at Godaddy. I have an account rep too, so that helps with overcoming possible support issues (not that I have any – but she was so helpful when it came to transferring a domain from another registrar).
Their discounts don’t help me usually, as I buy/renew in bulk and get the discount either way.
BTW, totally offtopic, but have you considered installing comluv? I think it would be a nice boost for commenters (especially since your blog is nofollow).

agree godaddy is the best domain registrar i get and they are cheap in registration but costly in hosting.
