Having Reliable WordPress Blog Lab
As readers of this Online Knowledge Blog, You should already aware that I already create a WordPress blog lab in freeweb7. Surely, it is really helpful to have WordPress Blog Lab in some free web hosting like in FreeWeb7. We can make WordPress Blog Lab imitate our current blog perfectly and have great testing environment. We always can test some new customizing and tools in WordPress Blog Lab before we implement it in our current blog. So, our current live blog do not have to face broken blog experience, each time we do some customizing or do new blog tools installation.
Free Web Hosting (FreeWeb7) Service Really Bad
But – yeah, there is always but – after some month that I have WordPress Blog Lab in FreeWeb7, I found that the blog testing really hard to do in it. It is because FreeWeb7 has bad service like other free web hosting. The service occasionally down and also there are many blog tools that can not install because limitation of FreeWeb7. I aware of it after try to customize WordPress Theme for my next blog theme. I found that the customizing really hard to do because the speed really slow and some time the service is down, and also I occasionally I can not access dashboard page because some error in FreeWeb7 adbrite ads.
A Way to Have Reliable WordPress Blog Lab
Therefore, I try to create WordPress Blog Lab in better web hosting provider. It is really a waste if I buy new domain name and pay web hosting service just for testing purpose. But, I also do not want to use free web hosting service because the bad service experience for free web hosting service. Therefore, I try to find how I can have reliable WordPress Blog Lab in cheap and easy way. And thank god i found the way! Yeah, I found that my current web hosting provider allows me to have sub domain name. I can use this facility to create reliable WordPress Blog Lab without boundary, and do not need to spent money for it.
WordPress Blog Lab with Sub Domain
Pre-requirement
- We must backup all current blog data in root domain. You can read the detail in how to Backup Blog Data in blog disaster recovery article.
- We must create sub domain before create WordPress Blog Lab in sub domain. You can read the detail in how to Create Sub Domain article.
WordPress Blog Lab Installation
- Log in to Cpanel by use user-name and password to access Cpanel page.
- Find the “Fantastisco De Luxe” icon.
![]()
- Click it and then choose WordPress from the list.

- Choose new installation

- Now, we are in step one for WordPress Installation. In this step one, we choose which domain and directory name we use for this new installation. We also select admin user-name and password that will use to access the protected admin area. It is also that we fill base configuration which will use in WordPress installation result.

Then, click “Install WordPress” button. It will bring us to “step two page” of WordPress installation. Step two consists information for confirmation purpose so we do not need to change anything in this page.

Click “Finish installation” Button if all already confirm with what our needs. This brings us to step three of WordPress Installation.

Step three page consist of blog installation. You can save the information for future use. I send the detail information to my email so I have backup of it.

Do Sub Domain Redirection
OK, the WordPress installation in new domain already done successfully but we still have to do some setting. For now, the new WordPress installation can access trough ““. I need do some configuration in Cpanel so I can access blog lab by use ““.
- So, I go back to Cpanel page from Fantastisco installation page, and then go to domains configuration. Click “Subdomain” icon.

- Then click “Manage Redirection” to configure redirection for the sub domain.

- Redirect”bloglab.letupdate.com” to “bloglab.letupdate.com/BlogLab/” , so I can access the new installed WordPress just by use sub domain as address.

- Click “Save” button. I browse “bloglab.letupdate.com” in my web browser, and I redirect to “bloglab.letupdate.com/BlogLab” directly. So, the WordPress Blog Lab Installation already finishes.
Conclusion
We must have one dedicated blog for testing purpose so we can testing all case in that blog before apply it in our current blog. I call this testing dedicated blog as WordPress Blog Lab. We can have WordPress Blog Lab in free web hosting service such as FreeWeb7 but the service usually unreliable. We can have reliable WordPress Blog Lab if we install it in our current paid web hosting service. We can install WordPress Blog Lab in sub domain. We can use “Fantastisco De Luxe” for easy installation. However, we must do some additional work if we use “Fantastisco De Luxe” to install WordPress Blog Lab. We must configure redirection so we able to access WordPress Blog Lab with sub domain address directly. We surely do not need to configure redirection if we use manually WordPress installation.
That’s all update this time, wait for next update!

Interesting. Have you ever considered having an installation of WordPress MU though? Supposedly it should also allow you to have multiple blogs (although I haven’t tried it yet, as I am still on wordpress.com, and will be until I think I can get enough money to cover my advertising costs).
Also, I do agree with your idea of having your new customisation features on a separate blog, but I would rather run it on my own server, than again, it would be somewhat difficult for someone who hasn’t ever dealt with web server software before to set up.
I never consider WordPress MU because WordPress SU is enough for my needs.
Yup, separate blog for customization feature is a must. About How to do that, all of it depend on blogger. Blogger can have it in free hosting service, our sub domain self-hosted blog service, in your local PC/laptop, and etc.
This is too complicated for me. I am using xampp for my local wordpress and so far my testings went fine. Yes, free webhosting is not quite good because of the limitations.
Local wordpress is great, but sometime you may forget to bring your laptop.
Local machine is a nice idea too! I had done it some time ago.
yup, local machine is great, but sub domain will give you access to blog lab when you do not bring your laptop with you.
easy and nice tutorial but i prefer to use test lab in my local machine by installing wamp/xampp in my computer..
Yup, we can have it in our local machine. I will write about it too in future article.
Nice and easy tutorial, thanks for posting.
Thanks sahil.
That was easy to follow tutorial. Might be useful for those who’s planning to create multiple blog on a single hosting or for testing purposes.
