As you may already aware, Comment is very important part of blogging. Comment make different between regular site and a web log (Blog). If regular site is one way interaction from site admin to reader, Blog is two way interactive interactions between blog admin with readers, and also between readers. In my opinion, blog is part of social media network. Many internet users interact in one blog and they share their thought in that blog. In long term, there will be bond and trust between blog admin and readers. Of course, the bond and trust only if content and interaction maintain with right way. This bond and trust thing which makes blog is good media for advertiser.
Comfortable comment form is important
That’s why do comment and reply comment become more important for bloggers. It is more good if comment turn to discussion because discussion tend to create more interactive situation in comment form. Of course, comment form must support make comment and discussion comfortable. So, choosing the right theme for your WordPress theme will determine how your blog will do. WordPress theme with great comment form will contribute for your blog success. You may choose Wordpress theme that have comment form which have reply button, quote button, and cascade reply. Those three services surely will lead the blog comment form become more interactive.
Allow comment track trough email really helpful
And do not forget to install plugin that allow commentators track comment trough email such as “Subscribe to Comments” WordPress plug-in. The track-able comment is a must to improve interaction in comment form. It is because the readers surely do not have time to always check directly in blog if there are new comments in discussion. So, it is really helpful to our readers if the comment can track trough email. Base on my own experience, track comment trough email really help me to involve in discussion. I do not miss any good comments or discussion because of email tracking.
Blog Admin should reply the comment
And, do not forget that site admin reply also important part create bond and trust trough comment form. It is because readers do comment for blog content and the commenters usually hope the site admin can give the feedback according their comment. So, if site admin can give a good feedback, it surely creates good bond and trust for the blog. But it is hard to reply all comment if you have ton of comments each days. And surely it will harm your blog bond and trust if you choose to do not reply any comment because of it.
So, how do we overcome this difficult situation?
WordPress blog admin can overcome this situation by two ways which are:
- Reply only certain comment that need to reply such as question directly to blog admin
- Reply all comment trough WordPress dashboard, WordPress 2.8.4 provide this. And if reply trough WordPress dashboard not available, there are some plugin that you can use.
I, my self, use number two in this online knowledge blog. Yes, I reply all comment troughs my blog dashboard. It is really help to save time because we do not need to open each post to reply the comment.
Conclusions
Comment is really important part of blogging. We can build bond and trust trough it if we handle it right. I write three things how to handle the blog comment so can give benefit for us as blogger. Yeah – this article is no perfect but can be a first step to handle blog comment at least.

I use some plugins like CommentLUV and KeywordLUV both have there on unique functions and they both are useful. I would suggest you to try it once.

Yup, some pro blogger usually to busy to visit their commentators blog. I my self always click the link in this blog commentators.
I do not do anything special to have alexa number below 100.000, i just comment like crazy in so many blog and also have few alexa review.
I have a general rule for replying to comments. Most of the comments left on my blog are well thought out. Of those, any that warrant a dialog, I simply respond. This is usually done about 75% of the time.
However, regardless of whether or not I respond on my blog, I return the gesture on their site 100% of the time.
Yeah, we can choose to reply only the comment that need to be replied.
I see that visiting all commentators blog is part of your blogging strategy.
Should we reply to all comments or only to important comments? sometimes we practice commenting to the visitor’s blog because not all of them would come back to check their comment.
I suggest you only reply the comment in your own blog because it is too spammy for me if you reply the comment right in commentators blog. After reply the comment, you can go to commentators blog and write a comment base on their article, they usually remember you and remember their comment in your blog so they will check it again.
Using commentluv pulgin is good, others will get the last/selected subject with the comments.

yeah, there are no point for blog if there are no comments.
Like Gabe I try to reply to all comments, but there are times when comments left do not require a reply, and replying seems inane.
I do however appreciate all comments left on my blogs, except those I consider as spam which I delete, and I will always reciprocate well thought out comments
Yup, sometimes there is a comment that un-reply-able.
In my case, I reply to all comments even if it isn’t a question, hahaa! I just love to interact with the commenters.
