It seems The Atahualpa WordPress Theme tweaking in top gear recently. As you should already know, I just upgraded this blogging tips blog theme to Atahualpa 3.4.6 and now, there is Atahualpa 3.5.1 available. I decide to directly upgrade this blog Atahualpa theme to Atahualpa 3.5.1 instead do gradual upgrading to 3.4.7 first. Also please note that this newest Atahualpa theme is still not in WordPress Theme list so I need to do manual installation here.
As pre-installation act, I backup the function.php file since I did some customizing in it. It is needed because Atahualpa theme will not heritage function.php configuration in Atahualpa upgrading. We always need to backup function.php and then re-upload the backup after finish to upgrade. This is a must step to do if we do customization directly in function.php of Atahualpa WordPress Theme. If not, you can forget this step and go directly to upgrading process.
Here how I upgrade this blog theme this time:
- I download the theme from Atahualpa 3.5.1 download page to my laptop
- Log in to WordPress admin page
- Go to “Appearance” area and click it
- Click “Themes”
- Click “Add New” button
- Click “Upload”
- Click “Browse” and choose the Atahualpa 3.5.1 from our Laptop file
- Click “Install Now” button
- Wait until there is success notification
- Then click “Activate” to apply the theme to blog
- Open FileZilla and connect to blog file
- Upload back the Blog Logo
- Re-upload the function.php file which we backup in pre-instalation step before.
- Done. The Atahualpa theme is successfully upgraded.
Great! This blog already run in newest Atahualpa WordPress Theme version now and ready to further Atahualpa customization journey. Overall, this theme looks good but the sidebar is a bit distracting as the fonts don’t stand out in the red and orange background.

Indeed, there is no big difference from the old version. The additional features in it is thumbnail customizing and configuration export/import.

Honestly, I love all elements of this theme except the sidebar’s color. It looks old-fashioned.
